Is ELK X-iter available in the UK? The £5 cap, read aloud
ELK's slots reach GB casinos; the X-iter mode selector, on the evidence, does not. Grizzly Stampede's published ladder against the Commission's stake cap.
Is ELK X-iter available in the UK? The games are; the mode selector, on the evidence this desk could read, is not. One GB operator’s blog states X-iter’s bonus-buy modes are not offered to UK players, and the Commission’s £5-per-game-cycle stake cap rules out a 250x-bet mode at any bet above 2p by simple arithmetic.
The ranking pages give one half each: an older affiliate item says X-iter games are at UK casinos, a 2025 operator guide says the modes are not. Both can be true; a slot and its mode selector are different organs.
What ELK says X-iter is
ELK’s product page describes X-iter as predefined, game-specific modes that let a player buy a scenario: guaranteed base-game features, growing-multiplier spins, or straight entry to a bonus. Up to five per title; a genus of the bonus-buy family with a ladder rather than one price. The page makes no country-by-country statement.
Grizzly Stampede’s ladder, as published
ELK’s game page gives the two ends and nothing between; the middle rungs will not be borrowed from another ELK title. For what the page prints about return, see our Grizzly Stampede RTP entry.
Is bonus buy allowed in the UK, and what did the Commission say?
Two documents, neither of them a ban. The first is a Commission reminder dated 17 January 2020: six operators were offering feature buy-in on slots, one game charging more than £3,000 to enter the bonus. It cited RTS 3A, on explaining rules before a customer commits, and RTS 14A, on not encouraging a customer to raise their stake; all six removed the facility. A reminder, dated 2020; not a rule change.
The second is the stake cap. The Commission’s online slots stake-limit guidance records that the £5 limit for all adults went live on 9 April 2025 and the £2 limit for 18-to-24-year-olds on 21 May 2025, as a condition attached to every remote casino operating licence by the Gambling Act 2005 (Operating Licence Conditions)(Amendment) Regulations 2025. It caps the total an individual may stake in any game cycle, stake meaning paying or risking an amount in connection with an online slots game. In the passages this desk read on 14 September 2026, the words bonus buy and feature buy do not appear; the cap does not need to name the mechanic. We covered how it reshaped 2026 slot design elsewhere.
Why can’t UK players buy bonuses on slots? How much does X-iter cost?
X-iter is priced in bet multiples, not fixed sums, and no figure here is a recommendation. A 250x-bet mode costs 250 times the bet in one game cycle. At a 2p bet that is exactly £5; above 2p it exceeds the over-25 cap, and above 0.8p it exceeds the £2 cap. That is arithmetic on ELK’s figure and the Commission’s, not a Commission ruling on X-iter.
The cheap rung is different: a 3x-bet mode stays under £5 at any bet of £1.66 or lower, so the cap alone does not exclude it. Whether a GB client shows any rung is a question for the game as deployed. Prime Casino’s studio guide, updated 7 October 2025, states in a compliance note that X-iter modes involving bonus buy are not available to UK players and UK versions use standard triggering only. It cites no document and names no game; this desk read no GB client, so it stands as one operator’s statement. A trimmed GB build is a pattern we have catalogued before, with operator-selectable RTP.
Questions searchers ask
Is bonus buy allowed in the UK?
No Commission document this desk read on 14 September 2026 bans the mechanic by name. There is a 17 January 2020 reminder that six operators offering feature buy-in had all removed it after being contacted under RTS 3A and 14A, and since 2025 a £5 or £2 cap on the total stake per game cycle.
What is X-iter in ELK Studios slots?
X-iter is ELK’s menu of predefined, game-specific play modes bought at a multiple of the base bet: up to five per game, from guaranteed base-game features and growing-multiplier spins to straight entry into a bonus, per ELK’s product page. On Grizzly Stampede the published rungs run from 3x to 250x bet.
Can you play ELK Studios slots in the UK?
The game and the mode selector are separate questions. ELK states on its site that ELKAB Studios AB holds Gambling Commission account number 40844, and one GB operator’s blog lists ELK titles as playable while stating that X-iter modes involving bonus buy are not available to UK players. This desk read no register or GB game client this run.

Verdict
Museums keep specimens they cannot display. X-iter in Great Britain looks like one: catalogued on the studio’s page, absent from the case, the label reading 250x bet and the glass reading £5. Check the information panel where you play, and fix the evening’s budget before the reels move.
